£750,000 investment in Leigh town centre business hub now complete
Leigh Works has completed renovation of its town centre building, officially opening its doors as a fully-equipped creative business hub for start-ups, makers and small businesses.
The space now offers over 6,000 sq ft of coworking, offices, digital production, and fabrication space – designed to support a new wave of digital creatives and tech startups in Wigan Borough.
Over the last 18 months, Leigh Works has been steadily developing its facilities in two phases. The latest investment includes a £20,000 conference room with stat-of-the-art tech, a £10,000 podcast studio with broadcast-quality lighting and audio, and new labs for digital fabrication and electronics.

The final fit-out brings total investment in Leigh Works to £750,000. As well as support from GMCVO and Groundwork, local businesses and residents have invested over £100,000 of their own money to make this project a success.
"We started Leigh Works with just a couple of desks and a 3D printer. Now it’s a space where people can design, build, launch and grow their projects under one roof,” said Steven Tomlinson, one of the founders. “This final phase makes the whole building fully operational, with a strong mix of creative and professional facilities."
Tools for creators, space for collaboration
The expanded facility includes:
- Flexible desks and private offices for freelancers and small teams
- A fully equipped sound, video & photo content creator studio
- Meeting rooms, including a high-spec hybrid conference suite
- 3D printing, CNC & laser cutting tools
- A new electronics lab for prototyping hardware and embedded devices
- A chill-out lounge, shared kitchen, showers and exclusive member discounts at local cafes

The coworking and workshop model allows members to book space by the month, week, or even by the day, with no long-term commitment required. The goal is to make professional-grade tools and space accessible to people starting out or working independently.
“There’s nowhere else in the area where you can 3D print, record a podcast, and meet with a client in the same building, It’s not just an office – it’s a toolkit for creative work.”
